I also give the same recommendation- fine for a well catechised person, teen or older, and a bit younger ought to read with the parents (assuming <I>they</I> are well catechised).<BR/><BR/>There is much to discuss in the ways of good and evil here. I found the comments on the slaying of the unicorn very "pro life" (why taking the life of an innocent is so very wrong, and how horrible to do that just to preserve your life as you want it).<BR/><BR/>I read the first book fearfully due to the warns about "occult" but I think those fears are unfounded. The magic is fairy tale magic and the books are no more 'occult' than The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (see Lucy with the Magician's Book) or the Wizard of Oz. My problem was the same as yours... the rulebreaking stuff.<BR/><BR/>I am eager to read your reviews of the other books.<BR/><BR/>What did you think of Dumbledore's comments to Harry at the very end?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
